Owuraku Ampofo named in top 50 most influential young Ghanaians for 2021

Sports data journalist Owuraku Ampofo has been cited in Avance Media’s top 50 most influential young Ghanaians for 2021.

The ranking which was announced on February 28, 2022 lists young Ghanaians excelling in various sectors such as sports, entertainment, leadership, social entrepreneurship, business, etc.

The list was compiled by the Rating firm after the public nominated young Ghanaians who are passionate about contributing to the development and image of the country Ghana.

Owuraku, an alumnus of Ashesi University, was selected as one of the top 100 most talented, motivated, and passionate student journalists in the world by the British Council in 2019.

As part of the award, he attended an intensive media training programme in London where he received exclusive coaching from world-leading editors, broadcasters, writers, and reporters, to witness how publishers around the world are using technology to find stories and bring them to life.

During the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations hosted in Cameroon, Owuraku worked with Opta – the world’s leading sports data company – to write engaging, data-driven, and analytical articles telling the African story.

He was also featured on international platforms such as BBC and TalkSport to share his views about the tournament.

Owuraku is currently a sports data journalist at the Multimedia Group – Ghana’s largest media organisation – and uses his voice to amplify the talents of Ghanaian footballers across the globe.
